Grant has had a passion for the Pipe Organ from an early age. Born in Sidney, BC, he was a choir boy at St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Victoria. The sound of the organ fascinated him and he was determined to understand how it worked. After high school he was able to obtain a job with Hugo Spilker, the local organ builder. They serviced instruments with a variety actions and all manner of pipework, some quite historic. After two years, Grant went to work with Gabriel Kney in London, Ontario. The firm built new, mechanical action organs for markets in Canada and throughout the United States.
Returning to Victoria, Grant again worked with Hugo Spilker and gradually bought out his business. Most of the pipe organs on Vancouver Island have been under his care since 1984. His wife, Bev, works with him and manages the office.
We have designed and built two Continuo chest organs, small new 2 manual and pedal church organs and several 2, 3 and 4 manuals consoles. Rebuilds and additions to local instruments have been undertaken as well as restorations of historic tracker organs.

The goals of IPM are:
Replace pesticides with non-toxic alternatives and good management.
Redesign management and cultural controls, with an eye to preventing pest problems before they occur, and encouraging beneficial species.
In 2002-03, we released over 350,000 Ladybugs to help with pests. More Ladybugs were released in 2005-06. Ladybugs eat Aphids for breakfast, lunch, and supper. This is a beautiful thing as Aphids are the vector for the "Blueberry Scorch Virus", which is fatal to blueberry plants. Flora work is very important to the continued success of Phil's Farm. She can be reached at 250-885-5995. Without good bugs, we wouldn't have such fabulous crops.

All pieces are finished with non-toxic bees wax or 100% pure unrefined tung oil, to retain the natural patina and beauty of the wood.

The Victoria Grid Project is a group of photographers, artists, videographers, urbanists and writers - all interested in the city of Victoria. We come together to document everything from the mundane to spectacular areas of our city.
The idea was born from the Portland Grid Project. Once a month we randomly choose a grid from our map and document the area any way that we can. The aim of this project is to keep a continuous membership, ebbing and flowing, for many years in order to record our changing city and its residents. Nearing the end of 2007, we hope to amalgamate as many entries as possible into a gallery showing.
The bulk of our documentation will be displayed in our Flickr group, Victoria Grid Project , or our You Tube account, Victoria Grid Project. However, this website will showcase our experiences and link to the various mediums we have chosen to use.
In order to participate, you must follow the specific area for the specific month and keep your feet planted with the grid borders. Remember, there is no limit on how you choose to experience the grid just where and when. With your help, we will have a record of our city that will last for years to come.

Dr. Vasta has a BS and MS in nursing and a PhD in clinical psychology. She is licensed both as a registered nurse and as a registered clinical counsellor in British Columbia. She received her training as a psychoanalyst in Los Angeles at the Psychoanalytic Center of California. Dr. Vasta has been a graduate psychoanalyst for more than twenty-five years and is a full member of the International Psychoanalytical Association, the Canadian Psychoanalytic Society and the Canadian Institute of Psychoanalysis. She is also a member of the Western Branch Psychoanalytic Society and is a supervising and training psychoanalyst with the Vancouver Psychoanalytic Institute. Dr. Vasta was in private practice in the Los Angeles area for 19 years and has had a private practice in Victoria for nearly 15 years.
Most of Dr. Vasta's patients come to her because they are either depressed or very anxious. Many of them have gone through painful relationships and some are going through a difficult breakup or divorce. Some of the people who see Dr. Vasta have had eating disorders or suffered sexual or physical abuse. She treats individuals that are 16 years of age or older and who want to talk and try to understand the meaning of their problems as they go about making changes in their behaviour.
Dr. Vasta uses a psychoanalytic approach in the work she does. People she treats see her from one to four times a week.
Dr. Vasta is also available to supervise psychotherapists who are interested in learning about psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
