Ebony (our new puppy) has joined our team to make everyone happy. She's sleeps a lot but is quick to please.
Giankour is a great picker and also helps with pruning the raspberries. We have worked together for 9 or 10 seasons.
This is Flora Wood, "The Bug Hunter". She is an Agroecologist with a B.Sc. from the University of British Columbia. She owns and operates a company called Flora Crop Consulting (Integrated Pest Management)
The goals of IPM are:
Replace pesticides with non-toxic alternatives and good management.
Redesign management and cultural controls, with an eye to preventing pest problems before they occur, and encouraging beneficial species.
In 2002-03, we released over 350,000 Ladybugs to help with pests. More Ladybugs were released in 2005-06. Ladybugs eat Aphids for breakfast, lunch, and supper. This is a beautiful thing as Aphids are the vector for the "Blueberry Scorch Virus", which is fatal to blueberry plants. Flora work is very important to the continued success of Phil's Farm. She can be reached at 250-885-5995. Without good bugs, we wouldn't have such fabulous crops.

Ivan Cumming died unexpectedly on Thanksgiving Sunday, October 7, 2007, at Vancouver General Hospital, BC. He spent his last days reflecting, telling stories, and holding close family: Nina, his high school sweetheart and wife of 58 years; children Lois (Rob Smith), Connie (Gordon Caldwell), Pat (David Pearce) and Victor (Mary-Ann Reid); grandchildren [Antonia (Steve), Roberta (Keith), Sarah, Matthew, Shane, Andrew, Scott, Jason, Lindsey, Kate]; great-grandson (Owen); sister-in-law (Lillie Bailey) and nephew (Larrie McDonald) and family (Andrew, Jessica, Amber, Dawn, MacKenzie); and nieces, Millie Cumming and Caryll Dyck. Ivan is also survived by younger brothers (Len and Carman), many nieces and nephews, and great-grandchildren (Haley and Kyle).

WHAT IS ITE?
Founded in 1930, the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) is an international, individual membership technical association of more than 15,000 engineers, planners, and other practitioners involved with the safe and efficient movement of people, vehicles and goods on streets, highways, and transit systems in over 80 countries.
In addition, ITE publishes a monthly magazine; sponsors a large number of technical councils that prepare and publish technical reports, bulletins and standards; holds international conferences; and participates in technical discussions with governments and other agencies. ITE also maintains a Computer Bulletin Board system for members and runs a mail order book shop specializing in transportation publications. How It All Began
In the beginning, brew-on-premise establishments began brewing beer using "kits" of pre-hopped concentrated barley extract syrup which was not boiled. The 2nd generation brought the use of kettles to the home brewer, but concentrated syrup was still used as the base. After brewing award winning beers from "scratch" in their basement, Rae Henderson and Dave Harvey decided to offer their experience and techniques to other brewing enthusiasts. The Finest Ingredients
Four natural ingredients are used in our products: water, malted barley, hops and yeast. The barley is malted, which means it is sprouted (germinated), then kiln dried at various temperatures and humidities. Malting produces enzymes in the grain which, at the proper temperature, will convert starches contained in the kernels into fermentable sugars.
